I’ve been fishing a fair bit, but in my opinion badly. Blanking for tench, carp barbel and big bream seem to have taken up most of my summer. It’s been hard to say the least and I’ve not been fishing well, getting lazy, more chuck it and chance especially on nights. Mojo well and truly lost.
OK I’ve had a handful of nice tench, nothing massive, but did manage the double figure bream I’d been after. Thanks to an unknown carp angler who spodded a ton of bait out for me well past my accurate casting range with my lighter rods. All I had to do was stick a single bait out at range, hope it hadn’t tangled and wait and wait and wait.
A looooong time later a few beeps showed something was slowly moving off with my fake corn hookbait and a strike met with solid resistance. A fight followed that could only be described as hefty and nodding with some scary moments in shallow water and I was looking at 11lb 2oz of pb bream and a net and unhooking mat covered with a great deal of snotty slime.
